Giant Garuban ガルバン by Bullmark ブルマァク

I am sure others have noticed that the sculpt, paint, and color palette of the Alien In Bus (see prior post) is very similar to that of the Garuban (also orange vinyl with metallic paints). The Garuban is "giant" sized: 12+ inches tall. Both the Alien In Bus and the Garaban are beautiful figures!

[Click the pics!]

Garuban appeared in the 1967 live-action show called "Captain Ultra." (Episode 3, Magnetic Monstrous Beast) (磁石怪獣ガルバンあらわる ガルバン) (1967.4.30)

Alien In Bus (インバス星) from Silver Kamen

Alien In Bus (Inbas) from Silver Kamen.

[Click the pics...]

Orange vinyl with metallic paints. Standard-size. One of my favorite figures of recent times.

This figure is a joint project by Kaijuken and Dream Rocket. Kaijuken and Dream Rocket also collaborated on an Alien Tigris figure (also from Silver Kamen). (I will post pictures of the Alien Tigris figure later.

The Alien In Bus figure also included a small figure of the Alien Tigris figure (not shown here).

Alien In Bus appeared in Episode 20 (シルバーミサイル) of the Japanese TV show “Silver Kamen” (Silver Mask) from the 1970’s.

I am not sure of the significance, if any, of the small car near the figure's waist. Was Alien In Bus magnetic (or just making a fashion statement)? Anybody know?

M1Go GID Gezora ゲゾラ

M1 Go reissue of the Bullmark Gezora (Toho edition). This is a standard size glow in the dark vinyl version, limited to 100 figures worldwide. Issued in February 2006.

[Click the pics to enlarge.]

Gezora, a giant cuttlefish (octopus, squid), appeared in the tokusatsu science fiction film "Space Amoeba" or "Yog: Monster from Space" (南海の大怪獣 - Giant Monsters of the South Seas). The film was produced and released by Toho Studios in 1970. This was one of director Ishirō Honda's last kaiju movies, and the first kaiju movie made by Toho after the death of special-effects director Eiji Tsuburaya. Teruyoshi Nakano did the special effects for this film. [Source: Wikipedia]

In the movie, an alien force comes to Earth on a returning spaceship, intent on world conquest and using giant monsters as its tools, first Gezora, then the turtle-like Kamoebas and the giant crab, Ganimes. Over the course of the monster battles, it is revealed that Gezora can be hurt by ultrasonic frequencies. One notable thing about the movie, is that although the monsters are giant, they are smaller-scaled than in movies like Godzilla. This smaller scale allows more intimacy and realism in the attacks by the monsters on humans and their villages, and the humans' response as they fight back against the monsters.
